To ensure your Bambrella remains an asset rather than a liability, you must account for the specific “sail area” of your canopy and the wind exposure of your patio. Because Bambrella frames (especially the Hurricane and Levante series) are engineered with high-density materials like bamboo and marine-grade aluminum, they require more substantial anchoring than standard retail umbrellas to maintain their structural integrity.

Round vs. Square: An 8.5′ Round umbrella has significantly less wind resistance than an 8.5′ Square. If you have the Square model and plan to use it freestanding, the 155 lb Granite Base is your safest investment.
The “Table Support” Discount: If your 8.5′ umbrella is inserted through a table weighing at least 45 lbs, the 66 lb base is sufficient as the table provides the necessary lateral bracing.
Pole Fit: Most 8.5′ Bambrella models use a 2″ pole. Ensure your selected base stem is compatible, as a loose-fitting pole will lean and vibrate, potentially damaging the frame over time.
